            Frequently Asked Questions
					 What services do you offer?

We provide sandblasting, soda blasting, and shot blasting for a range of surfaces, plus brick cleaning and restoration, and specialist oak beam and staircase restoration for homes and businesses.
Which blasting method is right for my project?

It depends on the material and finish. Soda blasting is gentle for softer substrates and historic features, shot blasting is great for heavy rust and industrial steelwork, and sandblasting suits robust masonry and metal. We’ll assess and recommend the safest, most effective option.
Do you work on listed or heritage properties?

Yes. We use sympathetic, low-pressure techniques and test patches to protect original brickwork, timber, and detailing while achieving a clean, uniform finish.
Can you remove paint, rust, smoke staining, or graffiti from brick?

Absolutely. Our brick cleaning and restoration service removes paint, rust staining, carbon/soot, and graffiti while preserving the brick face and mortar as much as possible.
How do you restore oak beams and staircases?

We use fine media and controlled pressures to strip coatings and grime without rounding edges or raising the grain. After cleaning, we can apply protective finishes or leave the timber ready for your decorator.
Is blasting messy? How do you control dust?

Blasting produces dust and spent media. We contain the work area, use extraction where appropriate, and carry out a full tidy-up. For sensitive sites, we can use lower-dust methods and sheeting to minimise disruption.
					 Will blasting damage my surface?

When done correctly, no. Damage occurs when the wrong media, pressure, or angle is used. Our technicians tailor settings to your substrate and always run a small test area first.
When would you use soda blasting?

Soda blasting is gentle and non-etching, so it’s ideal where surfaces are delicate or you’re working close to glazing. Typical uses:
Timber windows/frames & sash boxes – strips paint without gouging the grain and won’t frost the glass when masked correctly.
uPVC and aluminium frames – removes coatings/oxidation with minimal surface profile.
Stone/brick with light sooting or overspray – low-pressure cleaning that preserves detailing.
Vehicle panels, softer metals, and fixtures – great where heat/warp risk must be minimised.
Notes: Soda is alkaline and leaves little to no profile, so it’s perfect for cleaning and prep but not for keying heavy-duty primers. We contain and clean up residue to protect nearby landscaping and seals.
When would you use shot blasting?

Shot blasting is aggressive and fast, creating a clean metal surface with an “anchor profile” for coatings. Typical uses:
Structural steel, beams, gates, railings, trailers, plant – removes mill scale, rust, and heavy coatings quickly.
Industrial floors/concrete – prepares surfaces for epoxy or resin systems.
Cast iron & heavy-duty fabrications – where you need deep, even preparation.
Notes: Not suitable for delicate items, thin panels, glazing, or fine joinery. It creates a profile designed for primers/industrial paints and is the go-to when long-lasting coating adhesion is critical.
					 How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on surface type, access, coatings/thickness, area size, and finish required. Once we’ve seen photos or carried out a site visit, we’ll give a fixed, itemised quote with no hidden extras.
How long will the job take?

Do you apply protective coatings after blasting?

Yes. We can prime metals to prevent flash rust, seal brickwork (breathable options available), and finish timber with oils, waxes, or lacquers. We also offer a powder coating service, which offers a full end-to-end solution to metal work and industrial shot blasting projects. Or we can hand over ready for your own painting contractor.
